Investigate Graduate Outcomes

Graduation is an important milestone, but it is not the end of the story. This explorer uses Forest Lake Area High School graduate outcome information published from Minnesota's Statewide Longitudinal Education Data System (SLEDS) to look beyond graduation and examine postsecondary aspirations, college enrollment, and credential completion.

Why this matters: School districts prepare students for many different paths after high school, including college, technical training, employment, military service, and other opportunities. No single measure defines success. These data provide one useful view of how Forest Lake graduates are moving into postsecondary education and completing credentials.
Important cohort note: The aspiration, college-enrollment, and four-year credential-completion percentages shown here describe different graduating classes and should not be read as a single student funnel. The current published snapshot uses the Class of 2025 for postsecondary aspirations, the Class of 2023 for college enrollment, and the Class of 2020 for four-year credential completion.

How to Read the Results

Published snapshots: Forest Lake Area Schools includes these SLEDS-derived graduate measures in its annual Career Guide. This version compares the two most recent published guides available for these measures.

Different cohort years: College completion naturally requires a longer follow-up period than college enrollment, so the latest completion cohort is older. Comparing the three percentages directly as if they followed the same students would be misleading.

Broader pathways: SLEDS also provides reports on out-of-state college enrollment, persistence, developmental education, course taking, and entry into Minnesota's workforce. Those measures can be added as district-level data are incorporated into future versions of this tool.

The current Forest Lake Career Guide identifies SLEDS as the source for the graduate outcome measures shown in this explorer. The prior Career Guide provides the immediately preceding published snapshot. SLEDS is Minnesota's longitudinal education and workforce data system and publishes reports that follow high school graduates into postsecondary education and the workforce.
