Student Needs & Demographics Explorer

This explorer uses Minnesota Department of Education 2024-25 enrollment data to compare the student populations served by Forest Lake Area Schools and eight peer districts. Percentages are the default because they provide the most meaningful comparison across districts of very different sizes.

Important context: These measures describe student populations and service needs; they are not scores and should not be interpreted as better or worse. Differences in special education, English learner, economic-need, housing-instability, and demographic composition can materially affect staffing, programming, funding, transportation, and academic comparisons.

How to Read the Results

Default display: percentages normalize each measure to district enrollment. Student totals remain available to show service scale.

FRPL: this is MDE's reported free/reduced-price-meal eligibility measure. It is useful as an indicator of economic need but should not be treated as a complete measure of household income or poverty.

Privacy: MDE applies privacy protection and suppression rules to public enrollment files. Very small counts should be interpreted with care.
